IDAHO GIVES 2026 IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN!, All Donations to Low Income Support Inc. Will Be used to Support Auto/RV Repairs for the Low Income! Dear Boise Low-Income Supporters, The story below illustrates the essential work provided by Low Income Support. In many challenging situations, we are often the only resource available to assist with difficult vehicle breakdowns. On Friday, Victoria’s Honda CRV broke down near the truck stop on Eisenman Road – she heard a loud clunk. She was on her way from Arizona to start a new job in Washington and suddenly found herself stranded and alone in Boise. Victoria reached out to every nonprofit and church she could find, hoping someone would be able to help. The only reply came from an Outreach worker from Our Path, who provided her with our nonprofit’s phone number. On Monday, Victoria left a voicemail explaining her situation. Unfortunately, her phone had died, leading to missed connections, but after several days of trying, we finally spoke on Tuesday. During our conversation, I was concerned that Victoria’s car might need a transmission repair, which would exceed our budget. I informed her that she might have to go to City Lights, a shelter, as her options were limited. However, recognizing her distress, I agreed to look at the car that day. That Tuesday, despite the pouring rain, we went to see Victoria and her vehicle. After an initial inspection, it was clear the car needed to be towed to a shop for further diagnosis, and we offered to take her to City Lights in the meantime. Victoria was determined not to leave her car, so the following morning, we transported both her and her car into Boise. At the repair shop, we discovered that the problem was a broken engine mount—the cause of the loud clunk—which was much less severe than feared. With $400 covering towing, parts, and labor, Victoria was able to get back on the road and continue her journey to her new job. Victoria expressed deep gratitude and relief upon learning that her car could be repaired and that our nonprofit would cover the costs. She was sincerely thankful for the support, which allowed her to move forward toward her new opportunity with hope. To make sure she was fully prepared for the road ahead, we also filled her car with gas and provided her with a hot meal. Our assistance made a meaningful and positive difference in her life, and Victoria departed feeling optimistic about what lay ahead. Please consider forwarding this email to your friends to help us reach our $5,000 goal. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most. We are 100% volunteer driven with every dollar you donate going directly to supporting the homeless community.Thank you for your kindness and support!Sincerely, Don Ruffing, Jette Curtis, Casey McGee & Dave Hockman Board Members, Low Income Support Inc https://www.idahogives.org/organizations/low-income-support-inc |
